Chocolate balls recipe

To make the chocolate balls, you

will need 1 packet of plain sweet biscuits, about 250g or 8oz pack.

We use Nice biscuits, but any plain sweet cookies will do the same.

A tin of condensed milk, a cup of desiccated coconut and 3 tablespoons of cocoa- oh yeah, and some spare coconut to roll the balls in.

Need the fine desiccated coconut, or it will not stick to the balls.

Now for the fun bit – crushing the biscuits. We used to crush them with a rolling pin on a clean tablecloth, but these days, we use the attachment on our handheld mixer to do this. Much quicker and more even, they need to be fairly fine.

Put the crushed biscuits into a biggish bowl, then add the cocoa, coconut and lastly the condensed milk.

chocolate balls

Mum used to use drinking chocolate when we were little, but cocoa is a stronger flavour.

Mix together, to form a firmish ball, not too wet or sloppy, because they will not hold together properly after they are rolled, and go out of shape.

If you find the mixture to be too soggy, maybe someone ate too many biscuits while crushing them!

Just add some more crushed biscuits.

Roll mixture into balls, not too big, just big enough to pop into your mouth.

Then roll them in coconut, and store in the fridge in an airtight container.

We used to make them a week before Christmas, and they did not last long once put out to eat!

ENJOY!
