Chocolate ball recipe
Chocolate ball day was great fun
- and when we were little, it meant that Christmas day would be here soon.
All sitting around the table, the 4 kids, helping Mumma! – She had patience my Mum!
Only thing was, Mummy’s little helpers ate most of the mixed ingredients and finished balls!
She had to keep a sharp eye on the enthusiastic little ball tasters, and save enough for Christmas!
Plus a few hit the deck, and were gobbled up by the dog, or my little brother.
My Mum was clever - she always made a double batch of the recipe, to compensate for the disappearing mixture.
Ingredients We took turns to mix and stir, pour, and roll the little balls, making a hell of a mess, but all happy and fighting between ourselves about whose turn it was to do what!
We loved these little balls, although very simple and easy to make, they are delicious, and I still love them.
Every year we made these as we were growing up, and I now make them with my daughter. And she loves them too.
We also have other special sweetmeats for Christmas, such as Rum Balls and White Christmas - an Australian speciality. We will be providing the recipes for these, too. Keep watching!
Next we mix up a batch.
